Functional Fashion Is Fabulous!

Autumn/Winter 2011 is here. The rain is frequent and big winds blow my car about on the motorway on the way to work as the trees dance and flirtatiously flutter their falling leaves for passers by. This is good because I can dig out my stripy Dr Who length scarf my Granny knitted for me which is cosy and warm. I also get to break out the awesome sensible flat boot to negotiate the puddles and pavements crispy crust of falling leaves in Botanic and Stranmillis. This has it’s downside as its time to tuck away the snood and helmet and exchange the leather gloves for mittens. The one constant trooper who will stay out of storage is the boots.
I am the champion of a sensible boot. Is there anything better? The study biker boot, the ankle boot, a  daring wedge, though I am seldom brave enough. Now that it is getting colder bikers all over the country are getting their last runs on the road as and when they can. The remainder of the dry tarmac is being soaked up and stored by the tyres of the bikes who are gathering their moments to keep them warm as they hibernate through winter. The sensible boot is working harder than ever to keep the biker’s tootsies warm and dry.
There was a charity ride out run by the Quay Vipers this summer which I went to with some family and friends. The Picture above shows me and my Uncle Anthony both in a sturdy boot and sensible trouser. You’ll notice he is also sporting a fetching open face helmet and sunglasses (the sign of a wise and seasoned biking veteran). We met a like minded lady who also shared my love of a study boot for her biking adventures. Tracy, who was riding a Suzuki which could eat mine for breakfast, was properly styled out for the occasion.  Wearing a pair of New Rock copper heeled boots, a leather jacket and beautiful blue helmet to match the bike, Tracy was enjoying a day to herself on the open road with style. I was kitted out in a red Dr Matrins slightly wedged boot with black leather jeans. To add to my biker mystique and  to be festive I wore a studded skulls belt on my hips. These red DM boots worked all summer and this weekend in the freezing run to Newcastle they kept the cutting wind from my toes as we went to get ice-cream in November.

(We have a pair of beautiful copper New Rock boots on our ebay shop this week. If you are on the hunt for a sensible Autumn boot or want to rock the biker chic look have a look at our ebay store.)
